U.S. Bellows designed 8″ diameter tied universal expansion joints for a pipeline in Colorado. The bellows are fabricated from 321 stainless steel and the flanges, pipe, and tie rods are carbon steel. They are designed for a lateral movement of 5″ at 400°F and 200 psig. The lateral force to deflect the units 5″ is 116 lb. The expansion joints are rated for a 7,000 cycle life and were 100% dye-penetrant tested and hydro-tested prior to shipment.

U.S. Bellows custom designed and fabricated this 90″ diameter radius long elbow duct assembly for an ammonia plant in Louisiana. The duct assembly shown here is being sent for painting before it is shipped. The assembly was fabricated from A-516 Gr. 70 carbon steel material and designed for 16 psig and full vacuum at 302°F. A 100% dye penetrant test, and spot x-ray test of all pipe circumferential and long seam welds was performed prior to shipment.

These fabric expansion joints were fabricated from stainless steel pipe and flanges with a three layer fabric belt protected by an insulation pillow. Each joint is 44″ ID x 40″ face-to-face and designed for 3 PSIG at 845°F. The expansion joints are designed for a lateral movement of 1/2″ and an angular rotation of 1.5°. Stainless steel covers were included to protect the fabric expansion element from possible outside damage.

The units have a 20″ diameter and are 30″ in overall length. The expansion joints were designed for 0.17″ compression with an operating temperature of 150°F at 285 psig. A dye penetrant test and pressure test at 300 PSIG was performed prior to shipment.

The bellows longitudinal seam was 100% x-rayed, all welds were dye penetrant-examined and the unit hydrotested prior to shipment.

This unit has a diameter of 20″ and an overall length of 108″. The expansion joint was designed for 4″ lateral movement at 450°F and 180 psig. Prior to shipment, the unit was 100% dye penetrant tested, PMI examined, and hydrotested.

The pipe and weld ends are fabricated from 347 stainless steel. The liner, tie rod lugs and end plates are fabricated from 304-H stainless steel. The bellows are Incoloy 800H. This expansion joint is designed for 2.6″ axial compression and 170 psig at 1200°F. The bellows longitudinal seams were 100% x-rayed, and the entire unit was dye penetrant examined and hydro-tested at 255 psig prior to shipment.

This 42″ dia. hinged universal expansion joint was designed with pantographic linkage flue gas application in a Columbian refinery. The redundant two-ply testable bellows are fabricated from Inconel 625 LCF and the remainder of the assembly was fabricated with refractory lined carbon steel. It is designed for an axial movement of 1.1″ at 1,000°F and 50 psig. All welds were 100% dye penetrant examined, the bellows longitudinal seam and pipe seams were 100% X-ray examined. The complete assembly was pneumatically tested to 50 psig due to the internal insulation. All the pressure bearing components such as the hinge plates, pantrographic linkage, gimbal ring and hinge support rings were designed and engineered per latest EJMA, ASME B31.3 codes
